The oil infrastructure has a choke hold on all of us. The next big step is to allow an alternative fuel infrastructure to phase out the oil infrastructure. It is all about the infrastructure. The free market will force plug in fueled/electric hybrids until they are all electric. The automobile company that uses the best battery or fuel cell will be the leader. The Government must make the change before the consumer does. The consumer will have no choice but to follow the new energy infrastructure.
Gasoline hog manufacturers will suffer and their lack of vehicles sales prove it. Smart automobile companies will lead through discovery, creativity, and innovation. I do not accept the excuses of the automobile companies for not producing plug in hybrids, electric cars and multi fuel cars. They cost us jobs, our clean environment and our good economy.
It makes no sense to burn foreign fuel in your American car. If you chant 'Buy American' then fight for American based fuels like ethanol and other renewable energy. Buy American means just that. Let your Congressman and Senator know that you want them to stop funding oil and support clean American based energy that keeps jobs in America. When they say drill for more oil, they are shifting the problem to future generation just for comfort today.
Electricity produced from renewable energy makes the most sense. Generating renewable electricity at the power plant level with supplemental renewable power at the consumer level, makes sense in a real world. If you want something to happen you must speak out by voting for the elected officials that support new and innovative ideas and rejects the status quo.
Cellulosic ethanol does not cause food prices to go up. The reason for high food prices is shipping and processing costs directly caused by high fossil fuel prices. This is specifically true of ethanol like the kind made from sawgrass. If we could mix more cellulosic ethanol with fossil fuels, it would hold us over until the next big renewable infrastructure is created.
Hydrogen produced from renewable electricity makes the most sense. Making hydrogen from fossil fuels just shifts the problems. The renewable fuel infrastructure is already in place. The big step is the incorporation of hydrogen safely into our society. All the money thrown overseas at about one billion dollars a day should be used to innovate better hydrogen use. I want to see a competitively priced hydrogen Hummer that is mass produced, sold everywhere, and fueled everywhere for under a dollar a gallon.
Decentralized power generation makes sense in a dangerous world. Imagine if the energy wasted on every rooftop could be harnessed from a consumer sized solar and wind power generator. It could contribute to the grid all the time. At night when the wind blows the most, it could be used to charge a plug in hybrid or electric car. The excess power could be gathered to charge batteries or generate hydrogen for use later in hydrogen fuel cells. With just a little energy conservation you may only have to rely on the power grid 50% of the time. We could create new jobs, clean our environment and get our economy back on track.
